I love to travel! Different places. Different food. Different people. Different cultures. It's just incredibly fun to explore and discover! So far, I haven't travelled nearly enough. I plan to make up for it though and travel my ass off (you know, once I have some more money)!
Luckily, I have been to a few places the last couple of years...

SHANGHAI
In October 2010, my mom and I went on an amazing trip through China. We travelled from Shanghai to Beijing and visited several cities along the way. Here are a few photos (ehm, okay, a lot of photos, way too many probably... here is your chance, run away while you can!).
SHANGHAI
TONGLI
Tongli is an adorable little city, not (yet) taken over by massive modern buildings, which is becoming increasingly unique in China since the Chinese people have little regard for historic value and prefer modern architecture instead.
YICHANG
Walking on a country-road in the small town of Yichang (with 'only' 4 million people, which is small for Chinese standards):

Due to the Three Gorges Dam, this area became flooded with water. Now, tourism is the main source of income. The traditional boatmen (usually several generations of men from one family work on one boat together) now row their boats filled with tourists across the Shennong Stream. They used to do their work naked, but that's not considered appropriate anymore with the tourists and all.

BEIJING
Inside one of the buildings (Wanfuge, the Ten-Thousand-Happiness Pavilion) stands a gigantic Buddha statue. It is said to be carved out of a single trunk of white sandalwood. It is 8 meters deep underground, 18 meters high above the ground and 8 meters in width. It is painted gold and colourfully decorated. I can tell you, it is extremely impressive to see!
At night we went for a walk through Wangfujing street, home of the strange foods:
A rainy day at the Forbidden City:
The Temple of Heaven:
The Great Wall (which, as I have learned, is actually not so much 'a wall' as there are many walls):
The Summer Palace:
Travelling by riksja through a Hutong. Hutongs are a traditional type of neighbourhood in Beijing. The government has torn most of them down by now, especially before the Olympics, but this one is protected.
